Seiko online store

Seiko was founded in 1881 as Hattori Clock Shop in Ginza, Tokyo. The founder, Kintaro Hattori, held the philosophy of "always staying one step ahead of the times" and began manufacturing watches in-house. In 1913, Seiko released Japan's first wristwatch, Laurel.

This founding spirit has been passed down through generations and remains integral to Seiko's operations today. As one of the few manufacturers in the world, Seiko produces everything from movement parts to finished timepieces under one roof. The Seiko Online Store is the official e-commerce site where customers can purchase Seiko's prestigious watch brands, including Astron, Prospex, Presage, King Seiko, 5 Sports, and Seiko Lukia, all developed by Seiko Watch Corporation.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This was a migration project from the previous system to Shopify. We were responsible for the design and development of the official Seiko EC site (Japan). Our role included everything from requirement definition to site design, as well as comprehensive theme customization, including the checkout page, membership registration, and member pages. We also handled the recommendation, implementation, and testing of necessary apps, as well as creating manuals and conducting training. We conducted thorough research and development for the backend checkout flow and essential features, along with the customization of notification emails. The apps implemented included product filtering and search functions, back-in-stock notifications, favorites, multilingual support (translation), product registration app with metafields, contact forms, access restrictions, invoices, delivery date selection, Shopify Flow (workflow automation), Instagram feed, and more. Regarding the checkout theme customization, we worked closely with Seiko Watch Corporation to carry out the customization and thoroughly tested the purchase flow.

RESULT

Based on the requirements gathered during the definition phase, and with reference to the existing site design and brand guidelines, we successfully revamped the official e-commerce site to offer a high level of user engagement and provide customers with an enhanced purchasing experience. The new design focused on improving site navigation and creating a seamless flow, making it easier for users to browse and make purchases. Following the initial site launch, additional development work was carried out in Phase 2, addressing further front-end and back-end requirements and challenges. Despite the tight timeline leading up to the launch, we were able to implement all necessary customizations and ensure the site was fully optimized for Seiko's operational needs.
