Create a development store from your Shopify Partner Dashboard

If you are just starting to use Shopify, please create a partner account using the URL below.
Anyone can register for a free account.

Setting up a development store
In the Primary Purpose field, select "Create a store for testing and building" and set the store name to anything you like.
The URL will be automatically created, so please make sure it is unique among your other stores. (You can change the store name later in the admin panel.)

The version is "Current Release".
We won't go into detail in this article, but if you want to try out the latest features released by Shopify, you can choose the "Developer Preview."
In the Data and Settings section, choose the one you prefer.
If you select "Start with test data," product, inventory, and dummy customer information will be registered with the initial settings.
We will select this option in this article, but if you already have a store and want to create one that matches it, or if you want to register products from scratch, please select "Start from an empty store."
Once all the settings are complete, click "Create a development store" to create your store.

Customer account type settings
From the settings at the bottom left of the screen, go to your account settings and select "Legacy."
As of November 20, 2024, when this article was published, it is not possible to embed the GoSub app block on the "new" customer account screen, so customers cannot check or change their subscriptions themselves.
This may be subject to change in future updates.

Shopify Payments test mode settings
Go Sub only accepts Shopify Payments In your development store, enable Shopify Payments and turn on test mode.
Similarly, go to the payment settings from the settings screen, click "Switch to Shopify Payments," and when the pop-up appears, click "Enable Shopify Payments."
Enter information that is relevant to your business.

Return to the payment settings screen and click the Shopify Payments "Manage" button to go to the Shopify Payments admin screen.

In the "Test Mode" field at the bottom of the screen, check "Use test mode" and save.

If you can't set up Shopify Payments, then you can also use the Bogos gateway for test payments.

Although it's not required, it's a good idea to sign up for at least one subscription product.

View and purchase on the storefront
Once you've completed all the settings, check it out on the storefront!
Is the information you entered during product registration correctly reflected? Is your GoSub subscription plan correctly reflected?

Once you have confirmed this, try purchasing the product via subscription.
Please be sure to create a test customer account and log in before making a purchase.
💡 Why log in before purchasing?
This is to test in advance what kind of flow customers will have to view and change their subscriptions once you start using GoSub in your actual store.
To view or change your subscriptions from your account, you must be logged in to make a purchase.

Check your notification email and customer account screen
Once the test purchase is complete, please check what the notification email looks like and what the display on your customer account screen looks like.
If you have followed the steps explained so far, your store is in a sandbox environment and you can use all of Go Sub's features for free.
