[Flow Construction] Prerequisites for setting up "Browser Crash Email" in Klaviyo
Do you have a "browser crash email" setting?
Last month we published an article on the basics of building flows in Klaviyo.
In this article, we will focus on Klaviyo's "Browser Crash Email" feature, which is a powerful tool for increasing sales on e-commerce sites!
This feature is not available in Shopify Email and is unique to Klaviyo.
However, this feature requires some prior knowledge.
In addition to ensuring Klaviyo is properly embedded, emails will not be sent unless the customer "knows you" (identified profile).
By reading this article, you can clear these requirements!

What is a "browser crash email"?
This is a recovery email for users who viewed a product page or category page but left the site without adding an item to their cart. Before cart abandonmentThis is a strategy that allows you to approach potential customers who are interested in a product but have not yet progressed to adding it to their cart.
The Difference Between Klaviyo and Shopify Email
Browser crash emails cannot be handled using Shopify Email's standard features.
Shopify Email basically targets checkout abandonment after adding to cart, while Klaviyo can be triggered by detailed actions on your site (such as viewing products), allowing you to approach a wide range of potential customers who left before abandoning their cart and try to recover sales!
This makes this feature unique to Klaviyo.
Two prerequisites for the browser crash flow to start
When building a browser crash flow in Klaviyo, you must:Two major conditionsmust be complete.
1. App embedding is enabled in your theme
To accurately track crash behavior, your Shopify theme must have the Klaviyo tracking JavaScript (snippet) properly embedded and enabled.

This allows Klaviyo to track your users'Viewed ProductThis will enable accurate detection of events such as "(a product was viewed)."
2. You must be an "Identified Profile" on Klaviyo
Klaviyo isWhoIf we can't identify whether you've taken that action, we can't send you the email.
Therefore, if a user detects that their browser has crashed, Klaviyo will display a message like "Identified Profile" must be linked.
"Identified Profile" means:People who have given Klaviyo their email addressrefers to.
Specifically, this applies to users who have met any of the following conditions:
-
KlaviyolistRegistered (via a form or popup).
-
On the siteLog inI have done it.
-
On the sitePurchase procedure(entered your email address at checkout).
-
Have opened or clicked on emails from Klaviyo in the past.
When these conditions are met, Klaviyo will recognize that "someone with email address XX viewed product △△" and will be able to trigger the browser crash flow.
Understanding these two conditions, and especially the concept of an "identified profile," is essential prerequisite for sending browser crash recovery emails with Klaviyo.
summary
Klaviyo's advanced tracking and flow features make it possible to recover from browser crashes, which was not possible with Shopify's standard features!
In addition, two conditions that are particularly important for delivery are that the email must be delivered to an "identified profile" and that "tracking must be embedded."
Make sure you do these preparations in advance and try building an automated flow that follows up with a wide range of potential customers before they abandon their cart!
