[GO SUB TIPS] How to Migrate from Other Shopify Subscription Apps

We are GO RIDE, the provider of the Shopify subscription app Go Sub!

This time, we’ll walk you through the process of switching from another subscription app to Go Sub! If you’re currently using a different subscription app but think Go Sub offers better pricing and features, please check out the details and contact GO RIDE.

[Preparation]

Step 0. What you need to use Go Sub

GoSub is available under the following environments. Please check in advance if your store, where you plan to use GoSub, meets these requirements.


  • Using Shopify Payment (GoSub cannot be used with anything other than Shopify Payment)

  • Theme is compatible with Online Store 2.0

[Contact Us]

Step 1. Contact us if you wish to migrate your subscription app to GO RIDE

Please apply using the dedicated form. At this stage, it is perfectly fine if you are not yet 100% sure about migrating!

Once you have confirmed and entered the required details in the form, we will contact you at the registered email address by the next business day.


Step 2. Schedule coordination for migration

We will review the information you entered in the form at our company and determine the data migration schedule together based on the details you provided.


On the day of migration, you do not need to take any action until we notify you that the process is complete!

You can continue to operate your store as usual without any issues.

Step 3. Go Sub app setup

Once the migration date is set, it’s time to start setting up the app!


  • App installation

  • Plan/group settings

  • Customer account page feature settings

  • Notification settings

[About notification emails]

The basic settings are already configured during the initial setup, so you can use them as they are if you wish.

Depending on the merchant, you may need to customize the notification email or change the sender address of the email.

Step 4. Theme settings

Please add the GoSub section to the theme you are currently using.


  • Add and confirm the display of the app block to the product page.

  • Add and confirm the display of the app block to the customer page.


We recommend duplicating the latest theme before making any changes!

When you add the GoSub section to the duplicated theme, please also set the currently used subscription app to hidden.


After the data migration is complete, please set the duplicated theme as the live theme. (See details below)

Step 5. (As needed) Contacting customers currently using the sub-sku

When migrating from another sub-sku app to GoSub, the customer account interface and notification emails will be updated.

If necessary, please inform customers currently using the sub-sku about the system changes.


If you would like us to send a bulk email to customers as well, we can provide a separate quote, so please feel free to contact us!



Step 6. Entering data into the data migration format

We will send the format from our company. Please enter the data to be transferred from your currently used subscription application to GoSub, and return it to us.


The main required information is as follows:


  • Customer information (ID, name, etc.)

  • Shipping address

  • Payment information (last 4 digits of credit card or PayPal email address)

  • Product information (variant ID or product name)

  • Price and quantity

  • Date and time of the next order

  • Subscription plan in GoSub (plan ID or plan name)

  • Other subscription information (such as number of past purchases)


Since you can download a list of contracts from most subscription apps, you can check almost all the necessary information from the download data.


If you are unable to download or have a large number of contracts, it may take time to create the data, so please allow plenty of time to prepare.


Please return the data at least two business days before the scheduled migration date.


Step 7. Requesting and Approving Collaborator Access

Please inform us of the store management screen URL and the collaborator access code. We will apply for access on your behalf, so please approve the request.


*If you do not approve, you will not be able to use the migration support.


[On the day of migration]

Step 8. (Our Company) Migration Work

At the scheduled time determined during the scheduling process, we will begin the data migration work.

There will be no impact on your normal store operations during the migration work.


Depending on the number of data items to be migrated, the process may take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to complete.

*If additional confirmations with the merchant are required during the work, or if there are a large number of items, the above time frame may not apply.


Once our migration work is complete, we will notify you by email.


Step 9. Switching and Verifying the Theme Display

Replace the theme duplicated in Step 4 with the live theme.

In the theme saved in Theme Library, click "Set as main theme" for the GoSub addition-completed theme.

Once the changes are complete, please check the store from the customer view.

Step 10. Support for migration source subscription apps

At this point, the switch to GoSub is complete!

Finally, please remove the target products from the subscription plan of the migration source subscription app. This is not mandatory, but if, by any chance, the migration source app is still displayed on the customer screen, it could cause confusion for customers, so please handle it as much as possible.


Also, if necessary, please download and save any past data, etc., from the migration source subscription app, and uninstall the app.

Free migration support is only available in the cases listed below.


  • If the number of subscription contract migrations is 100 or fewer

  • Posting a review on the Shopify App Store within one month after migrating to GoSub
