Menta Wai Islands Trip on Long Luck

In January I took a long vacation and went on a surf trip to the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia!

I would like to share with you what happened at that time!

We visited Lancers Light (HT's) and Awela Island.
When you think of the Mentawai Islands, you probably think of boat trips, but I'm not very good with vehicles and living on a boat seemed like it would be difficult, so I decided to stay in a hotel and do the trip.

Haneda → Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) → Indonesia Padang (Minankabau International Airport) → Take a taxi to Padang Pier → Mentawai Tua Pejat <=> HT's <=> Awera

Mentawai Fast is a scheduled service that only departs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and early mornings, so it is almost necessary to stay overnight in Padang.

From Padang, take the Mentawai Fast ferry to Mentawai, which takes about 4 hours.

The ticket price was 350k IDR + board charge 460k IDR, the latter being a mysteriously high price.
A one-way fare is about 8,000 yen.

You can eat nasi goreng at the pier.

Upon arrival at the Mentawai dock at Tua Peja, you will board a small boat for the further journey of 3-4 hours.

We share a ride with the Aussie crew and head to HT's.

Motion sickness prevention is a must.

I felt a sense of "more more" and the fatigue from traveling disappeared.😁

The first hit got me wrapped up and I got minor cuts on my arms and legs.
This is horrible in the off-season.
The points can be reached by paddle and you can enter the water at your own pace.
The waves were breaking pretty fast but the quality was pretty good.
If you choose a time you can go when there are fewer people.

In South Mentawai, there is a fee for using WiFi, so it seems to be a paid option.
When you log in to the site, you will be asked to enter your ID and password, and once you enter them you can use the service for the amount of time you purchased.
1 hour/2000 yen is quite expensive.
The WiFi at the hotel where I was staying was broken, so I had nothing to do at night other than read a book and went to bed early and got up early.
I found the science fiction novel "Augmented Sky" by Taiyo Fujii very interesting.

On Awela Island, you have to travel by boat, and the waves were really fun.

Depending on the time, it can be quite shallow so you need to be careful.

Our Indonesian friend who was driving the boat took some video with a Go Pro.

We just surfed and the time passed by in a flash.

We were able to see the sunset at the end and it was a great experience.
