【GO SUB Tips】Get ready for the retirement of legacy customer accounts! A guide to setting up your GO SUB account page with the new customer accounts
We’re GO RIDE, providers of the GO SUB Shopify subscription app!
In February 2026,Shopify announced plans to phase out “legacy customer accounts.”No official date has been announced for the complete phaseout yet, but the change could happen at any time.
If your store uses legacy customer accounts, we recommend starting preparations now.
With classic customer accounts, you could place the GO SUB subscription account page block directly on the account page. This is no longer possible with the new customer accounts, so you’ll need to provide another way to direct customers to the account page.
This article explains how to set up a way to direct customers to the GO SUB account page from new customer accounts, along with important points to keep in mind.
For a detailed overview of the impact of phasing out classic customer accounts and the migration process, see this article.

What Changes? Differences Between Legacy and New Customer Accounts
- Legacy customer accounts:You can add the GO SUB block directly to the account page, so no additional setup is needed.
- New customer accounts:You can’t add it directly, so you’ll need to create a separate link that takes customers to their account page.
With new customer accounts, you’ll need to provide a separate link to theGO SUB customer portalso customers can view and manage their subscription details, such as the next delivery date and product changes.
There are two ways to do this.We recommend setting up both.
Method 1. Add the GO SUB customer portal URL to the customer account menu
How to add a link to the GO SUB account page to the customer account menu.
We have a GO SUB page for the new customer accounts, but some features are limited, so we do not recommend using it at this time. (See below for details.)
This section explains how to navigate to the dedicated GO SUB account page.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, go to Content > Menus > Customer account main menu.
- To see which menu is being used in your customer accounts, go to Settings > Checkout > Checkout editor, change the target to Profile, and check the “Menu” section.
-
Add a new menu item.
-
Enter an item name (e.g., Manage subscriptions, View subscription details).
-
Set the GO SUB My Page URL “/apps/gosubscride/subscriptions” as the link destination.
-
Save
Tips
Choose a menu name that’s easy for customers to understand. Using terms commonly used in your store, such as “Manage Subscription” or “Manage Recurring Orders,” can help customers find their way.
“/apps/gosubscride/subscriptions” is the same for every site. Your store’s root URL is automatically added before “/apps”.
Method 2: Add a GO SUB block to the order list and order details, and add a button that takes customers to My Page
Steps
How to add a GO SUB block to the “Order list” and “Order details” pages in customer accounts. The block displays a button that takes customers to their account page.
This creates a pathway that lets customers go straight to the subscription management page while viewing a subscription order.
-
In your Shopify admin, go to Checkout > Checkout settings, then click “Edit” to open the editor.
-
Select the “Orders” page, then add a GO SUB block from the app blocks menu.
-
Similarly, add a GO SUB block to the “Order status” page.
-
Save.
Points
You can add this to both the order list and order details, or to either one. If you add it to the menu, adding this button is not required. Configure it according to your store’s policies. (In many cases, providing more navigation options makes things easier for customers to understand.)
Important Notes
Please keep the following two points in mind when configuring this.
Note 1: The GO SUB page for new accounts is not recommended at this time
The GO SUB page for new customer accounts haslimited functionalitycompared with the traditional My Page. As a result, customers may inadvertently register changes to their subscription details.
For these reasons, we currently do not recommend using this page. We recommend setting things up so customers can navigate to the GO SUB My Page, as in Methods 1 and 2 above.
Note ②: We recommend turning off the “Buy again” setting
We recommend turning off “Buy again” in the customer account settings.
If a customer clicks “Buy again” on a subscription order details page, the purchase will not be made as a subscription. Instead, a regular order will be created at the same price as the original order.
For example, a one-time regular order could be placed at a price that includes the subscription discount. Turn this setting off to prevent orders at unintended prices.
-
In Shopify admin, go to Checkout > Checkout settings and click “Edit” to open the editor.
-
Turn off the “Reorder” option.
-
Save your changes.
Summary
Well done!
As we prepare to phase out legacy customer accounts, stores using GO SUB should take the following steps.
-
Add the GO SUB My Page URL to the customer account menu.
-
Add a GO SUB block to the order list and order details, and add a button linking to My Page.
-
Do not use the GO SUB page for new accounts at this time (not recommended).
-
Turn off “Reorder” in your account settings.
To avoid rushing to make changes after the end date is announced, we recommend completing the setup now.
